Medical Disclaimer and Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 10 October 2026
The information on Home Remedy Shop is for general education about natural health. It is not medical advice, and it does not replace a diagnosis or treatment from your own doctor or another qualified healthcare professional. Please read this page before using any remedy from this site.
In short
- Our articles are researched and medically reviewed, but they are general information, not personal medical advice.
- Always talk to your doctor before starting a remedy or supplement, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, take medication or have a health condition.
- Natural remedies offer comfort and support. We never claim they cure a disease.
- In an emergency, call your local emergency number (112 in Europe, 911 in the US) straight away.
- Some links are affiliate links. They are always marked.
Who Writes and Reviews Our Content
Our health articles are written and medically reviewed by Veronique Claes d’Erckenteel, D.C., a chiropractor in practice in Belgium since 1991. Each article shows who reviewed it and when. Veronique is a chiropractor, not a medical doctor, and reviewing an article is not the same as examining you. Learn more about our team on our About page.
Not Medical Advice
Reading this site does not create a doctor and patient relationship between you and Home Remedy Shop, its authors or its reviewers. Our content cannot take into account your medical history, your medication or your specific situation. Never ignore professional medical advice, and never delay seeking it, because of something you read on this site.
When to See a Doctor
Every guide on Home Remedy Shop includes a section on when to see a doctor. As a general rule, get medical help if:
- A baby or young child is unwell, has a fever, sores, trouble feeding or is unusually sleepy. Never treat a baby with a home remedy instead of seeing a doctor.
- Symptoms are severe, getting worse, or not improving within the time the article mentions.
- You have a weak immune system, a long term illness, or you are pregnant.
- Something affects your eyes, your breathing or your ability to eat and drink.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number straight away.
About the Research We Cite
We base our articles on published research, mostly from PubMed and Google Scholar, and we link to our sources. Some remedies are backed by trials in people; others have only been tested in the laboratory, or rest on traditional use and personal experience. We say which is which, but research changes over time and a study result doesn’t guarantee the same result for you. Personal experiences shared in our articles are clearly marked as experience, not as evidence.
Remedies, Supplements and Essential Oils
- Natural does not always mean safe for everyone. Herbs, supplements and essential oils can cause allergic reactions and can interact with medication.
- Always dilute essential oils as described, patch test first, and never use them on babies or near the eyes unless a professional advises it.
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking supplements if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have kidney or liver problems, or take regular medication.
- Stop using any remedy that causes irritation, pain or a reaction, and seek advice.
Affiliate Disclosure
Some links on Home Remedy Shop are affiliate links. If you buy a product through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps us keep the site running.
- Affiliate links are always labelled as such, right next to the link.
- We only recommend products we use ourselves or would use with our own family.
- A commission never decides what we write about a remedy or how we describe the evidence.
- Some recommendations, such as the beeswax ointment we use ourselves, are not affiliate links. We say so when that’s the case.
External Links
We link to research papers, partner websites and other sources. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or privacy practices of external websites.
Limitation of Liability
We do our best to keep our content accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that it is complete, current or free of errors. Home Remedy Shop, its authors, reviewers and partners accept no liability for any loss, injury or damage arising from the use or misuse of the information on this site. If you choose to use a remedy described here, you do so at your own responsibility, ideally after talking to your doctor.
