Most of us always frantically hunt for a perfect acne cure to make our dream of acne-free and flawless skin a reality, without realizing that the treatment is available in our garden, kitchen cabinet or refrigerator. You can turn to homemade acne masks to get rid of acne in the safest and most pocket-friendly manner. However, good nutrition is the beginning of flawless skin. Below are some face masks you can quickly try at home without dreading side effects.
1. Gram Flour Face Acne Mask
- Gram flour – 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice – a few drops
- Rose water – a few drops
Prepare a paste by adding an adequate amount of yoghurt to gram flour. Add a few drops of lemon juice and rose water to it. Mix 2-3 drops of vegetable oil if your skin is dry. Spread this paste on the affected area. Let it dry for about half-hour. Gently massage the skin in a circular motion to remove it. Wash it off with cold water. If you have oily skin, use this mask every alternate day. And if you have dry skin, use it once a week.
2. Dry Basil Leaves Acne Face Mask
- Dry basil leaves powder – 10 to 12 tablespoons
Soak basil leaves powder in water for at least 2 hours. Apply it on the face. Leave it on for 25-30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Put a wet towel on your face for 10-15 minutes. For effective results, use it once in a week.
3. Baking Soda Acne Face Mask
- Baking soda – a pinch
- Water – a few drops
Take baking soda on your palm. Add a few drops of water in it. Spread it on your face. Rinse off your face with water after 15 minutes. Use this face mask two times a week. It will make your skin softer and flawless.
4. Oatmeal Acne Face Mask
- Oatmeal – ½ cup
It is very easy to prepare this mask. All you need to do is boil the oatmeal in water. Allow it to cool. Then apply a thick layer on your face. Rinse off after 15-20 minutes. The soothing and healing properties of oatmeal make it a widely used mask for acne prone skin.
5. Honey and Apple Face Mask
- Half an apple (grated)
- Honey – 4 teaspoons
Mix honey with grated apple and apply it on the acne-prone skin. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash with water. It is an excellent mask for dry skin. It not only prevents the outbreak of acne, but also gives radiance and glow to your skin.
6. Strawberry Mask for Acne
- Non-flavored yogurt or sour cream – ¼ cup
- Strawberries (fresh) – ¼ cup
Blend yogurt and strawberries in a blender. You can also use a fork to mash together the strawberries and yogurt. Apply on the face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with cold water.
7. Tea Tree Oil, Rose Water, Clay and Saffron Mask
- Tea tree essential oil – 3 drops
- Rose water
- Clay – 1 tablespoon
- Saffron powder – ½ teaspoon
Mix clay and rose water to prepare a paste. Add saffron powder and tea tree essential oil to the paste. Mix well and apply on your face. When it dries, wash off with lukewarm water.
8. Lemon Juice and Rose Water Face Mask
- Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
- Rose water – 3 to 4 drops
Mix lemon juice and rose water. Apply the mixture on acne-prone areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Afterwards, rinse off with water. Vitamin C in lemon keeps your skin clear and healthy.
Note – Do not use this mask if you have dry skin.
9. Honey, Milk, and Turmeric Face Mask
- Honey – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
- Raw milk – 1 to 2 teaspoons
Mix turmeric powder, honey and milk in a bowl to prepare a thin paste. Apply it on your neck and face. Rinse off with water when it gets dried. If this mask causes yellowish tinge on the skin, rub the stained areas with a cotton ball soaked in milk. Apply the mask twice or thrice a week.
10. Cinnamon and Honey Acne Face Mask
- Honey – 2 teaspoons
- Cinnamon powder – 1 teaspoon
Mix cinnamon powder and honey in a bowl until they blend well. Add more honey if the mixture is thick. Apply it on your face with your fingers. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, and wash off with lukewarm water. Then, apply a toner. If the toner is not available, use either lemon juice or a mixture of 2 parts distilled water and 1 part apple cider vinegar.
11. Brown Sugar, Honey and Strawberry Acne Mask
- Honey – 1 tablespoon
- Fresh strawberries – 6
- Fresh Lemon Juice – 1 tablespoon
- Brown Sugar – 1 tablespoon
Blend strawberries, honey, brown sugar and lemon in a food processor until a paste is formed. If the consistency of the paste is thin, add flour to thicken it. Apply it on your face and leave for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
12. Apple Cider Vinegar Mask for Acne
- Apple cider vinegar – 1 teaspoon
- Green tea – 2 teaspoons
- Honey – 1 teaspoon
- Sugar – 5 teaspoons
Mix apple cider vinegar and green tea (cooled) in a bowl. Then add honey and sugar to it, and mix well. Add more sugar if you want a thicker consistency. With the help of a cotton ball, apply the mask on your face. Massage for a few minutes and finally rinse off with water after 10-15 minutes. Use this mask two times a week.
13. Clay, Yogurt and Cinnamon Oil Face Mask
- Tea tree essential oil – 3 drops (optional)
- Clay powder – 1 teaspoon
- Fresh yogurt – 1 tablespoon
- Homemade cinnamon oil – 1 to 2 drops
Form a smooth paste by mixing all the ingredients. Apply on your face. Wash off with cool water after 15-20 minutes.
14. Lemon Juice and Aspirin Mask
- Aspirin – 3 to 6
- Lemon – 1
- Baking soda – 1 tablespoon
- Warm honey or natural oil such as coconut, olive, or almond – 1 tablespoon
Crush 3-6 aspirin in a bowl. Pour lemon juice in a bowl and allow the aspirin to dissolve. Add oil or warm honey to the paste, if your skin is dry. You can mix a few more drops of lemon juice if your skin is oily. Apply this mask on the acne-prone area. Let it dry. Dip a washcloth in baking soda and use it to remove the mask.
15. Yogurt and Honey Mask
- Yogurt – 1 teaspoon
- Honey – 1 teaspoon
Heat the honey and mix it with yogurt. Mix them well and apply on the face. After 10-20 minutes, remove it with a washcloth. You will feel a difference in your skin tone.
Along with applying the above masks, it is advisable to follow some precautions, like avoiding oily and food, removing makeup before going to sleep, never squeezing the acne, and staying hydrated. It will give you quick results.
